What is yoga?
Simply put, yoga involves movement through various postures, meditation, and breathing techniques.
Yoga means UNION or YOKE; union of mind, body & spirit. Yoga helps you bring these aspects of yourself into harmony and balance leading to a deep sense of well-being and peace.
Yoga is a philosophy and a lifestyle which is compatible with any religion or belief system. Many find it naturally deepens their spirituality, enhancing their sense of connection with something bigger than the self (God, Spirit, Source, Universe, Nature, Higher Power etc.).
Practicing yoga is not about performance or competition, nor is it about doing each pose perfectly. Yoga is about connecting with yourself on every level with an attitude of kindness, compassion, and care. Yoga is about tuning-in, learning to listen to your body, becoming aware of what you need- physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Yoga is about nurturing and loving yourself as a whole person.

What should you expect?
If this will be your first yoga experience, let go of your preconceived notions of what doing yoga is like and come with an open mind. You will be delighted!
Our seasoned, caring instructors will help you feel comfortable no matter what your experience or fitness level.
What to bring? A water bottle and an open mind. :)
What to wear? We suggest stretchy, comfy clothing and be prepared to take your socks off…. yoga is best practiced with bare feet. In order to respect the sacred space and keep the studio floor clean, we ask that you take off and leave your shoes in the reception area.
Eat before class? You will have the optimal experience if you practice on a relatively empty stomach. We suggest a nutritious snack two hours or so before class.
Heated room? We typically keep the room between 68-72F, but will happily adjust it based on student preferences and outside weather conditions.
Cell phones in class? In today’s culture, we are constantly bombarded with information, reminders, and noises. In an effort to maintain a peaceful, serene environment free of outside distractions, please refrain from bringing these devices with you to the studio. If you must bring a cell phone or wear a smart watch, please make sure it is on silent mode and leave it in the reception area during class. Rest assured, all items will be safe while you are in class since the main studio door is locked once class begins or a staff member will be at the reception desk to ensure items are secure.
