Do you drink beverages with ice? Did you know that ice is shocking to your body?

Even as the weather warms, try to eliminate ice from the beverages you drink. It is simply a habit to favor ice. Switch to warm drinks, or even room temperature.  But leave out the ice.  Ice causes our body to have adverse reactions…

  • Digestion is slowed as the blood vessels shrink, which can also cause headaches.

  • Our heart rate is decreased because the vagus nerve is stimulated by the cold.  

  • Cold water causes the respiratory mucosa to build up, resulting in an increased chance of infection causing a sore throat.  

  • Ice may be coated with bacteria and fungus. Ewwww.

So do your body a favor and leave out the ice.
