Shanthi Rao completed her formal 200 hours training with Maggie Durbas. Yoga was introduced to her during her early 20s in India. After coming to the U.S., she continued to study yoga – attending classes, trainings, and workshops with various learned teachers such as Pandit Rajmani Tigunait, Rolf Sovik, Tias Little, Gary Kraftsow, Patricia Walden, Jarvis Chen, Timothy McCall and Sharon Salzberg. Since her completion of yoga training, she has reached out to volunteer with the Alzheimer’s population and senior citizens offering chair yoga. She recently completed the Level 1 Therapeutic Yoga Training Program with Cheri Clampett and Arturo Peal. Her classes and workshops focus on healing the individual through Gentle Restorative poses and meditation. She combines her professional degree in Masters in Social Work (LMSW) and her personal experiences to create a safe space for people to experience mindful awareness, compassion and healing for mind, body and spirit. Her own ongoing journey with practice and teaching continue to evolve through her own ongoing self-observation. Shanthi is also a trained Reiki master. She enjoys listening to various genres of music, singing, reading and cooking. She loves spending time with her family and friends.
